The Mountain A Football team lost their season opener to St. Johns by a score of 20-6. The Tartans had a difficult time on offense but played strong on defense. A few broken plays along with a few mental mistakes became the difference in the game. Brad Lynds played well on both sides of the ball and Tyler Horgan also had a strong outing.

The Mountain A Football team defeated St. Marys by a score of 14-6 to improve their record to 2-1. It was a wet afternoon and the play for both teams was a bit slow and sloppy. The score was tied 6-6 at the end of the first half but that all changed when Kevin Cox returned an interception for a touchdown early in the second half. The two point conversion was added with a pass from Michael Shurtliff to Tucker Scott. The defense started out slow but finished the game by completely stalling St. Marys offense. Kevin Cox had his second interception of the day on the final play eliminating any chance St. Marys had to tie the game.

The Mountain A Football team lost its second game of the season to undefeated St. Johns by a score of 27-14. The game was tied 6-6 at the half but the Tartans could not hold off the St. Johns attack. Derek Lindquist caught a touchdown from Michael Shurtliff late in the game but time was working against them. Michael Shurtliff ran in the other score. Their record is now 3-2 with Serra Catholic up next.

The Mountain A Football team defeated St. Annes by a score of 34-6 at JSerra High School. This improved their record to 5-2. Two quick touchdowns were long pass plays from Mike Shurtleff to Derek Lindquist. Brad Lynds and Jeremy Davis added rushing touchdowns. Tyler Horgan caught a two point conversion pass and Kevin Cox had an interception making his total for the season five. The defense was solid by every member of the team.

The Mountain A Football team improved their record to 7-2 yesterday by defeating St. Annes 42-22. The offensive scoring was led by the running of Brad Lynds and the passing of Mike Shurtleff and Derek Lindquist. Taylor Scott intercepted a pass early in the 3rd quarter for a touchdown. Dane Lind did a great job kicking pinning them down on their side of the field most of the game

The first game was a tough one for the Tartans. After leading 7-6 at the half the Tartans gave up 3 2nd half td's. Ryan Cragun lead the offense with 37 yards and 1 TD and threw to Justin Welling for the PAT. Carson Matthews gained 39 yards rushing and had 2 flag pulls and a pass defense. RJ Egdorf lead the team with 3 flag pulls. Next week the Tartan's play 3 game with the home opener vs. St. Edward's on Monday.

OUTSTANDING EFFORT TURNED IN BY RYAN CRAGUN( 2 TDS AND A PAT) 8 FLAGS AND AN INTERCEPTION THAT WAS RULED A CATCH BY THE OFFICIAL. ALSO GOOD EFFORTS BY CLAYTON 8 FLAGS,CARSON 7 FLAGS AND RJ 6 FLAGS. NEXT HOME GAME VS SERRA IS THURSDAY. TARTAN RECORD IN NOW 3-2

CARSON MATTHEWS ADD A 55 YARD RUN FOR A TD AND RYAN HAD A PICK 6 FROM 80 YARDS. DEFENSE: CLAYTON CHALMER 2 INTS. AND 5 FLAGS; JAY 5 FLAGS; RYAN 5 FLAGS AND 1 INT; CARSON 4 FLAGS; TATE,RJ, AND SEAN 3 FLAGS EACH. THE TARTANS HAD A SHUTOUT UNTIL THE LAST PLAY OF THE GAME. RECORD 5-2 NEXT GAME THURSDAY AT SERRA.

ONCE AGAIN IT WAS A TOTAL TEAM EFFORT IN DEFEATING ST. ANN'S BY 22 POINTS. TAH TARTAN'S WERE LEAD ON OFFENSE BY RJ EGDORF WITH 2 TD CATCHES AND CARSON MATTHEWS WITH A TD AND RYAN CRAGUN WITH AN OPENING 55 YARD TD ON THE FIRST PLAY. WEDNESDAY IS THE LAST GAME FOR THE TAQRTANS AND THEY WILL GO INTO THE GAME WITH A 7-2 RECORD AND 2ND PLACE IN THE PAL LOCKED UP. THEIR ONLY DEFEATES CAME AT THE HANDS OF A VERY GOOD ST. JOHN'S TEAM THAT WENT 10-0. IN ALL BUT TWO GAMES THE TARTAN DEFENSE HAS GIVE UP 1 TD OR LESS TO THE OPPOSITION AND HAD AVERAGED ONLY 9 POINTS A GAME

The Canyon A2 squad faced a big and talented St. Mary's team today and won 18-6. They remain undefeated on the season and will be tested these next few days playing against Mission Viejo Christian. Come out and show your support! GO TARTANS!

The Canyon A Team played a tough Serra Catholic Squad today and truly came together pushing their team to a three game winning streak. If you missed today's game you missed a great display of pitch and catch. Quarterback Richard Wagner threw for several TD's and also ran to a TD as well. Make sure you come out to support the Tartans this Friday! Way to Go Tartans!

The Canyon A2 Team won a convincing game over Mission Viejo Christian today with a score of 50-26. Seemed like every play went for a score, but the star of today's contest was not on the offense. # 74 Jason Kim, a rusher on the defensive line stepped up big. Jason with his quick razzle dazzle in and out, spin moves and sometimes even leaving his feet, had several solo tackles (flag pulls). When the Crusaders of Mission Viejo Christian were threatening to score deep in Tartan territory, he prevented them from scoring on a long offensive possession. We are very proud of these young men for their great effort in today's contest and look forward to their next game. Good Luck Tartans and Keep it Rollin'!

Behind the passing of Ellis Jensen and the rushing of Jacob McFarland the Tartans rolled to a convincing victory over St. Mary’s. The defense bounced back from allowing 27 pts. in Tuesday’s game to record an impressive shutout. The defense has now held opponents scoreless for 6 straight quarters.

The Tartans played a tough St. Anne's squad today, losing 22-6. The score does not indicate the play on te field. The Tartans had some outstanding drives on offense and had some tenacious defensive stops with their backs on the goal line. It can be simplified by a tale of two halves. The boys will have a chance to redeem a loss from last week against a talented Serra Catholic team tomorrow at home. Please come out and support our Tartans!

The Tartan Football Squad stretched their record to 4-1 today with a victory over St. Mary's. Everyone contributed to the final score of 44-14, but #11 Tyler Aitken stole the show. Aitken started the game with an 80 yard touchdown drive and then turned around and ran back an interception for a touchdown. Brenden Wong, Caden Spencer, and Jack Moore also scored for the Tartans. The Canyon B Team plays Serra Catholic this Friday. Way to Go Tartans!
